SUMMARY
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for completing practical procedures, caring for and monitoring patients’ health.
REQUIREMENTS
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Monitors patients’ vital signs and records any data regarding change or improvement.
- Administers medication and applies topical treatments when necessary.
- Manages feeding tube machines while in the Surgicenter, gives injections, and treats open wounds.
- Completes patient related paperwork and some secretarial duties related to patient care.
- Gives injections as needed.
- Collects blood and urine samples.
- Assists patients with dressing and personal hygiene.
- Works with families of patients and teaches them how to provide follow-up or preventative care for the patient.
- Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited Practical/Vocational program preferred.
- Possession of a valid California Vocational Nurses License
- BLS required. American Heart Association BLS preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience is required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to skillfully perform vocational nursing duties and responsibilities within the scope of practice of the Nursing Practice for Act for vocational nurses.
- Ability to learn and follow procedures.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with physicians, mid-levels practitioners, co-workers and patients.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Body Positions: Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
- Body Movements: Arm and hand dexterity.
- Body Senses: Must have command of close and distant sight, color perception and hearing.
- Strength: Ability to lift and move up to 50-pounds.
Working Environment:
- Work in an office and outpatient medical environment where the climate is controlled.
- OSHA exposure category: I
Category I – Position includes tasks that involve exposure to Blood borne Pathogens.
Category II – Position includes tasks that do not have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, however employment may require unplanned Category I tasks.
Category III – Positions includes tasks that do not involve exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. This position would not be required to perform Category I tasks.
Salary : $24 - $30
