SUMMARY: The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a professional practitioner who assumes the responsibility for the delivery of respiratory care and cardiac diagnostic testing for inpatients and outpatients. The RCP initiates a therapy or procedures upon physician orders, evaluates a patient’s response and provides input to the physicians regarding the patient’s respiratory needs. The RCP documents care appropriately and maintains supplies to provide that care. The RCP demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession. The RCP performs Cardiology procedures such as EKG, Lexiscan, and Treadmill testing. The RCP may handle human blood and other potentially infections and/or hazardous materials, which may result in possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or harmful elements. This position may have the responsibility for providing the assessment, care and treatment to the following age groups: infant, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric. The RCP takes direction from the Cardiopulmonary Supervisor and reports to the Department Director.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Experience: 6 months experience preferred
- Required License/ Certifications: Licensed as a RCP by the State of CA, RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.
- MAB Certificate (60 days upon hire) required
