Inbound Logistics Specialist
Role Summary:
- The Inbound Logistics Specialist coordinates and monitors inbound freight to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. This role works closely with drayage providers, receiving sites, customers, and internal teams to manage freight movement, troubleshoot issues, and minimize supply chain disruptions. This role is ideal for a resilient, self-motivated logistics professional with a deep understanding of port terminal operations and freight interchange processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Freight Coordination: Track inbound shipments and ensure timely delivery between points of discharge (POD) and final destinations.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Maintain strong relationships with ocean carriers, drayage providers, customs brokers, and terminal operators.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Address delays, accessorial charges, and equipment issues at all points of freight interchange.
- Capacity Planning & Forecasting: Assess inbound drayage and warehouse receiving capacities.
- Documentation & System Management: Reconcile inbound records, perform system checks, and manage freight cost calculations.
- Reporting & Visibility: Update tracking systems and provide daily status reports to ensure shipment visibility. Transmissions of documentation to custom brokers for customs clearance. Manage communication with carriers, brokers and customers.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical abilities, including proficient mathematical skills and ability to analyze complex sets of data
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel); experience with Sage ERP, Google sheets is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a sometimes ambiguous environment
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of leading cross-functional coordination.
- Flexibility to quickly learn new processes, systems, and adapt to changing industry standards.
- Ability to take organizational objectives and execute them effectively—both in strategic initiatives and in everyday operations.
Required Level/Years of Experience
- 3 years in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, with at least 1 year in an international logistics environment.
