Overview
Job Summary: Assist the professional staff in the triaging, processing and delivery of prescriptions to the patient. Assist in the management of the Pharmacy Inventory and Third Party Receivables
Responsibilities
Job Duties:
- Executes the plan – Able to learn and understand specific aspects of the pharmacy management system (i.e., reception and release to patient queues) as well as our POS system; follows instructions and completes tasks with a sense of urgency; responsible for daily department standards’
- Quality focused – understands and embraces the importance of our Quality Assurance Policy & Procedures; understands and embraces all patient care programs and initiatives; understands and embraces all policies and procedures; accuracy with cash and related cash controls
- Assist in the Triaging of incoming prescriptions
- Verify and gather necessary patient information including name, address, phone number, date of birth, allergies, chronic conditions, request for non-safety caps and insurance information
- Assess the workload, establish the prescription pick up time and queue the prescription for processing
- Assist in the delivery of prescriptions to the patient, including obtaining patient signatures
- Performing cash register duties within the Pharmacy Department
- Assist with cash counts and banking transactions
- Provide quality customer service to all customers
- Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a professional environment, including replenishment of necessary vials and dispensing containers, labels and computer paper supplies
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all patient information
- Must keep current with all State and Federal requirements as related to conditions of employment
- Perform all store clerk duties as needed
- Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Skill Requirements:

- Requires the ability to stand throughout the duration of the shift
- Mandatory Training: Successful Completion of the Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Limited lifting up to lift 80 lbs
- Successful completion of a pre-employment and/or random drug screening test
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Minimum: High School Diploma (or currently enrolled) or GED
Required (Vermont Employees Only):
- Registered with the State of Vermont as a Pharmacy Technician
Experience:
- Hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Drug test
- Initial and continuous exclusion and sanction/disciplinary monitoring
- Any and all additional eligibility requirements based on the specific position
