KPMG is currently seeking a Director, Commercial Contracts to join our Enterprise Contracting Center organization.
Responsibilities:
- Apply a comprehensive, specialist level knowledge of contract lifecycle management to set and drive a service management-centric strategy for the Enterprise Contracting Center (ECC) commercial contracts team; ensure consistent application of guidance in providing advice or other solutions to the ECC and business area professionals; assure contracting processes are successfully followed by contract managers per business, Risk Management, Independence, and Office of General Counsel requirements
- Strategic and proactive responsibility to significantly contribute to the achievement of ECC goals, objectives, and priorities by participating in the development and execution of tactical plans that improve client service and create incremental client value, cost savings, and process re-engineering; lead the development of metrics and reporting systems to track the performance of the contracting function, ensuring transparency and accountability in meeting service levels and strategic goals
- Direct or be a primary contributor on multiple key projects, programs, and initiatives that require advanced contract management knowledge and negotiation skills; create independent decisions related to required responsibilities and use judgment to regularly make decisions on high risk and complex matters; identify process improvement opportunities and significantly contribute to innovation through implementation of enhancements that create high client value, process efficiencies, and/or enhanced quality
- Interface regularly and build collaborative relationships with partners and professionals to champion ECC's value to the firm, with the most senior leaders at client organizations to provide a positive first impression of the firm; manage escalations within the team and facilitate resolution, while ensuring alignment with other departments such as Legal, Risk Management, and Business Development to achieve optimal outcomes
- Establish credibility as a key advisor by providing advice and recommendations to significantly improve client service based on in-depth understanding of client's long-term business needs; assess and mitigate professional practice/regulatory risks/issues associated with contract terms, provide insights and guidance on intellectual property protection issues, and provide insights and advice to enable leadership decisions on key terms
- Provide active coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing with junior staff to advance their career development; manage and review those team members' work product; contribute to planning for short term needs, such as projects and processes; construct annual plan for deployment of those resources; people management responsibility for a mid-sized to small team of entry level through intermediate level professionals
- Minimum ten years of recent experience in contract management, procurement, and/or deal desk leading negotiation of complex contracts and overseeing a team of contract management professionals, preferably in the professional services industry in the commercial contracting domain with basic knowledge of compliance concepts and requirements, data analysis and management maintenance, government and commercial contracts as well as contracting process, control validation and testing, and monitoring
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; Master's degree from an accredited college/university is preferred
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, applying expertise to make concrete decisions that impact the firm; understanding of and ability to advocate for leading contract lifecycle management practices with an interest and acumen for understanding legal matters
- Advanced certifications in contract management (such as Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM)) and/or legal qualifications can be a significant asset
- Proven track record in managing escalations and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues promptly and effectively; demonstrated ability to conduct thorough quality reviews and assessments of contract work, providing actionable feedback and fostering a culture of excellence; proficiency in contract lifecycle management software and other relevant technological tools that enhance productivity and accuracy
- Outstanding verbal/written communication, collaboration, negotiation, and influencing skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork; ability to direct, motivate, and empower others to work towards the organization's goals, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across multiple functions; ensure execution of strategic initiatives for the organization; capability to address emerging opportunities and how organization should be organized/staffed to realize them
