KPMG is currently seeking a Lead Specialist to join our Federal Advisory practice.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive SQL Server database administration tasks including installations, updates, performance management, and release management
- Monitor and optimize SQL systems in both on-premises and cloud (Azure) environments using tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Profiler, and customized SQL scripts
- Execute and manage backup/restore processes, ensuring integrity and availability of database systems
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization through re-indexing, statistics updates, and TempDB management to enhance system efficiency
- Implement and maintain high availability solutions including Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication, and Database Mirroring
- Collaborate with various teams to provide SQL development advice, troubleshoot performance issues, and support the deployment of SQL Server updates and patches
- Effectively manage team members tasks / responsibilities, and foster cross functional collaboration to ensure seamless execution of projects / initiatives
- A minimum of five years of DevOps / systems administration and/or distributed systems development experience; preferably in cloud hosted environments
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2008,2012, 2016, 2019) and SQL Server in Azure environments
- Proficiency in SQL Administration, including SQL Server installations, updates, performance tuning, and release management
- Deep understanding of SQL security principles, conducting regular security audits, and managing user permissions
- Expert in SQL and PL/SQL development, with capability to create complex SQL scripts, stored procedures, and views
- Excellent technical documentation skills to develop comprehensive guides and best practices; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members
- Ability to travel as required to support firm engagements
- Applicant must possess a U.S. Government Secret clearance
