Job Summary
The Senior Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement and management of materials within the warehouse or manufacturing environment. This position requires a skilled individual capable of operating various equipment and performing heavy lifting tasks while adhering to safety protocols. The Senior Material Handler will be responsible for overseeing shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate order picking, and maintaining a well-organized workspace.
Duties
- Operate material handling equipment such as cherry pickers, clamp trucks, and cranes to move materials safely and efficiently.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks, loading and unloading materials from trucks and storage areas.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, including verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders.
- Execute order picking duties accurately to fulfill customer requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and improve operational efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior staff on best practices in material handling and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in material handling or a related field is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently throughout the shift.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes is highly desirable.
- Experience operating cherry pickers, clamp trucks, or cranes is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to material handling and workplace safety.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Job Types: Temporary, Temp-to-hire
Pay: $10.00 - $13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
