Director of Public Relations

KPS3
Reno, NV Full Time
POSTED ON 1/8/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 3/8/2025

KPS3 is hiring for a motivated, strategic and creative communications pro to join our growing public relations team as Director of Public Relations.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience in agency or corporate settings. They excel at developing public relations plans, know how best to help clients meet their goals and objectives, understand when and how to create and curate news for client campaigns and projects, and can do all of this on time and on budget.

If you know content is king, if you know the power of reporting results, if you know that PR is more than a press release - and if you know the magic happens because of teamwork, trust and outstanding and diverse clients - keep reading. If you want to work at a company that values curiosity, communications, risk taking and crazy (but rooted in data and strategy) ideas, and if your values sync with our values - we want to work with you!

We are looking for a progressive public relations professional based in the Greater Reno/Tahoe area who can:

  • Develop public relations plans based on PRSA’s RPIE model in conjunction with department leadership
  • Write AP-Style news and creative content based on strategy and data
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving for clients
  • Get excited about pitching statewide, regional and national media (and love getting clients top-tier media placements)
  • Develop and deliver quality, newsworthy content to media partners
  • Proactively seek valuable opportunities for our clients in the media
  • Manage editorial and content calendars
  • Stay up-to-date with news trends and topics, quickly helping to determine any action that should be taken for individual clients
  • Conduct research to best pitch client stories and leverage market opportunities for clients
  • Excels at public speaking, including client and internal team presentations
  • Prepare, participate and/or lead client meetings and collaborations
  • Lead communications during a crisis or an issue
  • Produce media events and assist with partnership collaborations
  • Measure, measure, measure – Are we meeting KPIs? How do we know?
  • Learn and use software like Muck Rack and Looker Studio
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and be skilled at multitasking
  • Love working as part of an integrated PR/marketing team who provides excellent results to clients
  • Manage your work with autonomy

Some perks and company stuff:

  • We pay 100% medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums for you
  • Can’t forget about life insurance—we cover that, too
  • 401k match. Booyah!
  • We give an annual lifestyle benefit card that you get to spend on whatever helps you have fun/relax
  • You get loads of time off (20 days to start, not including holidays)
  • We don't work on old computers or have old software
  • Flexibility: We ask a lot from everyone here, so it's fair to ask us for some back
  • If you want to learn, go to a conference, or get certified, we encourage and pay for it
  • We give longevity bonuses at one, three, five, and ten years
  • Dogs and cats are allowed... assuming they’re friendly and well-trained

We ask that candidates apply if you’re looking to advance your career and have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the public relations industry in an agency or corporate communications setting. Spanish-English bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
