TheHS&E Facilities Manager is responsible for providing leadership and management for the R&D organization, in the following areas; maintenance operations, utilities operations, buildings and grounds, safety, security, industrial hygiene, environmental, energy conservation, waste disposal, and contractor services for maintenance work.
Safety:
- Working within corporate strategies and policy frameworks, this position will design, propose and implement world class HSES strategies, guidelines and procedures within the R&D organization supporting short and long-term business needs.
- Advises management on government regulations relating to occupational safety, and recommends necessary action to attain compliance.
- Oversees programs for existing and potential occupational safety concerns and recommends resolution.
- Develops programs for safety corrective action and leads teams for critical incidents.
Facilities Maintenance:
- Support site and regional R&D manager in oversight of facilities, buildings and grounds equipment, utilities, contractor services, and infrastructure project management The position is also responsible for managing costs and controlling expenses related to infrastructure, maintenance and engineering projects, purchasing and stockroom inventories.
- Lead or facilitate continuous improvement or cost saving initiatives as assigned with the R&D organization. (i.e.; Energy Management)
- Use, coach and teach Lean, Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies in support of business objectives.
Sustainability Management:
- In cooperation with Kraton's assigned Capital Expenditure manager, support site and regional R&D managers in developing and executing a five-year equipment/facility renewal plan for the R&D Organization.
- And other duties as assigned to safely perform.
Site Leadership:
* Lead the site to ensure maximum team cohesion, facility up-time and a productive environment through adherence to Kraton's Core Values and ensure that the function is embedded and part of the site's leadership team.
* Establish and maintain productive working relationships with local neighborhood organizations and industrial partners.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in an HSE&Sleadership or management role.
- Minimum 2 years Project Management Experience.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electric, and/or facilities engineering disciplines acquired through formal education or a minimum of 5 years' experience in a maintenance environment or a facilities management related field.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate well with government contacts, management, etc., both on a personal and technical basis. Demonstrates ability to clearly define relevant project/program information in written and oral presentations.
- Demonstrated cultural empathy through interaction with teams in other regions to implement best practices of supporting and building healthy teams.
- Ability to work with a multinational, multicultural team to reach consensus and implement best practices regarding safe lab operations. May require fluency in multiple languages.
- Ability to manage and coach team members, with hands-on problem-solvingskills.
- Bachelor's degree engineering, Occupational Safety & Environmental Health or facilities management, plus a minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a chemical plant/laboratory related field.
- CSP, CHMM or CIH certification or Industrial Health & Safety Management certificate or local equivalent.
- Hazardous Waste Management certificate.
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification desired.
- Project Management Certification desired.
