GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing basic and routine electronic and mechanical assembly operation on components, printed circuit boards, and subassemblies along with installing and assisting with testing unmanned ground vehicle systems in various vehicles at Micro Systems or customer facilities. Apply appropriate processes, procedures, safety measures and tools to support ground vehicle system assembly and installation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work independently or as part of a team performing electronics assembly and electro-mechanical hardware installations to support the companyis Unmanned Vehicle programs.
• Position and align parts in specified relationships to each other and mount assembled components on panels or circuit boards.
• Route electrical cables and wiring, connect and adjust mechanical linkages, mount brackets and electronic enclosures, and all other associated parts and components in a neat and organized manner.
• Cut and drill into sheet metal or plastic of vehicles as required to facilitate installation of hardware while striving to be minimally invasive and avoid collateral damage to the greatest extent possible.
• Work independently or as a team to convert conventional ground vehicles, typically medium to large utility trucks and tractor-trailers from imanned to iunmanned operation by installing companyis proprietary electro-mechanical control system hardware using a wide array of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, work orders to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
• Capture and record installation procedures in a comprehensive and cohesive manner such that other personnel may be able to duplicate and repeat the installation process as youive documented.
• Travel to customeris sites within the U.S. or to Europe to perform vehicle surveys, system installations and follow-on testing as needed, oftentimes outdoors, and for a span of a few days to a few weeks.
• Support control system integration and testing after the installation process.
• Communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbally, with other Production and Engineering personnel.
• Support program development by recommending design improvements.
• Manage job assignments and provide accurate job status reports to the Production Supervisor and/or the Program Engineer as required.
• Operate medium to large-sized utility trucks and tractor-trailers.
• Perform any other work-related tasks as directed by Supervisor.
• Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
• Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
• Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems as they pertain to the automotive industry desired.
• Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics and electrical systems desired.
• Working knowledge of a multi-meter desired.
• Ability to create technical sketches, either by hand or in CAD software.
• Ability to read and write effectively in English.
• Experience with technical writing desired.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Intermediate level of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• 1-2 years experience with automotive, aircraft mechanical, electrical repair, or system installation.
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of hand and power tools.
• Preferred experience and licensed to drive Class 8 trucks or have the ability to pass DOT physical and obtain (at companyis expense) endorsement for Class 8 trucks desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Production and office environment.
• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time or work extended hours as necessary.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (use of arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity for small parts assembly, frequent use).
• Possess a valid driveris license.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL (at companyis expense) to allow driving of large utility trucks and Class 8 (tractor-trailer) trucks desired.
• Must be physically capable of maneuvering around the inside of various types of vehicles to access tight spaces, often outdoors in unconditioned air, in the performance of your duties.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision and work well with co-workers.
• Travel up to 25%.
• Ability to travel by air or motor vehicle for work purposes.
• Possess a passport or be willing and able to obtain (at companyis expense) to allow for work travel overseas.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
