Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Position Overview:The Teaching Assistant at Kreative Kids Early Childhood Center plays a crucial role in supporting the lead teacher and ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students. The Teaching Assistant will assist in implementing curriculum, supervising students, maintaining classroom safety, and supporting individualized learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate and engaging curriculum.
- Support classroom activities by preparing materials, setting up learning centers, and maintaining an organized learning environment.
- Provide individualized attention to students, reinforcing lesson objectives and assisting with skill development.
- Encourage a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere that aligns with Kreative Kids' mission and values.
- Reinforce positive behavior strategies and classroom expectations to promote a respectful and structured learning environment.
Supervision and Safety
- Monitor students during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
- Assist in implementing safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the classroom, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines.
- Provide assistance during meal and snack times, promoting healthy eating habits and good hygiene practices.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to any behavioral or safety concerns, reporting incidents to the lead teacher as necessary.
Assessment and Documentation
- Assist in observing and recording children's developmental milestones, behaviors, and progress.
- Help track attendance, maintain student records, and document any notable incidents.
- Support the lead teacher in preparing student reports and assessments for educational planning.
- Offer feedback and observations that contribute to instructional adjustments and individualized learning plans.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the lead teacher to ensure smooth daily operations in the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to share insights, address challenges, and implement best practices.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
- Assist in organizing and executing classroom events, celebrations, and enrichment activities.
Individualized Support
- Provide additional assistance to students requiring extra academic or behavioral support.
- Implement instructional modifications and accommodations as directed by the lead teacher.
- Support children with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs) by reinforcing targeted learning and socialization strategies.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where all children feel valued and encouraged to succeed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to the evolving needs of the classroom.
- Basic knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., bend, stoop, and actively engage with children at their level.
