School Bus Driver - Traveling

As a School Bus Driver, you must have:
- A valid PA Drivers License with CDL Passenger and School Bus Endorsement, including an Air Brake Endorsement.
- A satisfactory driving history based on state motor vehicle records.
- A satisfactory criminal history and child abuse history checks, as required by law and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
- An initial and routine annual school bus driver physical, with appropriate inoculations and tuberculosis testing, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
- Participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and random drug and alcohol testing programs throughout employment.
A School Bus Driver operates a van or bus under supervision, transporting school pupils or clients to and from school or other locations.
Daily routes include:
- Driving a bus over designated routes according to time schedules.
- Loading and unloading pupils or clients at designated locations and schools.
- Transporting school pupils and teachers on school activity trips.
Responsibilities also include:
- Performing pre and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle.
- Conducting child checks immediately after each run.
- Maintaining good order and discipline among school pupils or clients.
- Following company policies regarding pupil/client management and relations with parents, teachers, guardians, medical practitioners, medical facilities, and the public.
In addition, you will:
- Verify route turn for turn sheets and note any route changes with written notes.
- Make additional directional or landmark notations on bus route sheets to assist future new or substitute bus drivers.
- Observe and track route timing, such as total time enroute, loading and unloading times, or other requested information for establishing route efficiency.
Other duties include:
- Sweeping, cleaning, and refueling buses.
- Reporting all mechanical deficiencies promptly.
- Complying with the Dress Code and all other rules/regulations of the Contractors Employee Handbook.
Requirements: 1 year of School Bus Driving experience (required); Commercial Driving experience preferred; CDL B license (required), CDL (preferred).
