Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of the HR function within the organization, ensuring compliance with labor regulations and fostering a positive work environment.
Duties
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
- Manage the recruitment and selection process, including conducting interviews and making hiring decisions
- Administer benefits programs and provide guidance on benefits administration
- Design and deliver training programs for employees at all levels
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify workforce needs and develop talent management plans
- Collect and analyze HR data to inform decision-making processes
- Lead performance management processes to drive employee engagement and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead the hiring process, including job postings, interviews, and onboarding. Ensure all new hires are integrated effectively.
- Policy Development: Create and update company policies, ensuring compliance with federal and California labor laws (e.g., sexual harassment, discrimination, disability, etc.).
- Employee Relations: Provide leadership in resolving employee issues, complaints, and conflicts. Conduct investigations related to workplace harassment, discrimination, and misconduct.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Stay updated on legal changes, especially related to California-specific legislation such as the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).
- Training & Development: Organize mandatory training programs (e.g., sexual harassment prevention) and support career development initiatives for staff.
- Benefits & Compensation: Manage the company’s benefits programs (e.g., health insurance, 401(k) plans) and oversee the compensation structure, including payroll administration.
- HR Data Management: Maintain accurate HR records, including payroll, benefits, and legal compliance documentation. Implement systems for tracking employee performance and feedback.
- Health & Safety: Develop and manage workplace safety programs, in compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.
- Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives: Promote diversity and foster an inclusive work environment through targeted programs and policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of organization design principles
- Strong data collection and analysis skills
- Experience in benefits administration and training development
- Ability to work effectively with senior leadership on strategic HR initiatives
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in HR management, with strong knowledge of California labor laws and federal regulations such as FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
- Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain it within a year).
- Language: Fluent in both English and Spanish, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HR software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of HR practices related to hiring, termination, benefits administration, and labor law compliance, especially within the context of California laws (e.g., sexual harassment training requirements, disability accommodations, etc.).
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to handle sensitive employee matters with confidentiality and professionalism.
Additional Preferences:
- Experience working in a healthcare or home care setting.
- Familiarity with managing a diverse, multilingual workforce.
