GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Mentor will provide support to members of Project GOLD as a positive example of someone who has experienced human trafficking, has done work processing their trauma, and is equipped with tools and strategies to support themselves in healthy ways. The position will provide personal advocacy and emotional support, identify members’ needs, and help them identify resources to assist with building their lives. The position provides information, referrals, advocacy, and follow-up contact for services. The position also includes participation in public proceedings related to a member’s victimization and presence in the human trafficking “G.R.A.C.E. Court,” where the position provides accompaniment and advocacy on behalf of members. The Mentor will also lead a mentoring group at the Project GOLD Drop-In Center and encourage members’ participation in programs. The Mentor is directly supervised by the Project GOLD Program Manager/Mentor Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· People with lived experience of human trafficking/survivors of commercial sexual exploitation/human trafficking are strongly encouraged to apply.
· Personal lived experience as someone who was commercially sexually exploited through sexual activity in exchange for something of value, sex work, stripping, or pornography.
· A minimum of five years out of the commercial sex industry.
· Reliable personal support systems, knowledge of own personal triggers, and clear routines for self-care.
· A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
· A current driver’s license and access to a car with full coverage insurance.
· Bilingual – English and Spanish or English and Haitian Creole preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Accompany and provide support to Project GOLD members involved in GRACE Court, working collaboratively with Kristi House staff on court, law enforcement, and prosecution issues and coordination.
· Provide group and one-on-one support and mentoring to youth and young adults who have experienced or are at risk of commercial sexual exploitation. This support will include weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly meetings (depending on members’ needs and schedules).
· Within the group/individual setting, work to build rapport for healthy relationships with members to enhance opportunities helping to expand mentees’ ranges of experiences through open communication and discussions, education, and development of skills and strengths.
· Encourage and support mentees’ social, emotional, and cognitive growth through providing guidance and problem solving, seeking out assistance from the Project GOLD Leadership and other program staff for sensitive topics or specialized areas as needed.
· Document each contact with assigned members (group or individual) using Kristi House-designated reporting format and data collection forms.
· Work collaboratively with the staff at the Drop-In Center in developing appropriate support services, safety, and goal development.
· Attend weekly Project GOLD rounds, all-staff meetings, multidisciplinary team (MDT) and other related staffings, and participate in training and skill development as needed.
· Whenever appropriate, involve family members or other meaningful support systems in the delivery of mentoring services.

· Experience in youth development and positive youth programming.
· Ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
· Positive attitude and strength-based approach to working with underserved community members and victims of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and other forms of trauma.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 per year
