Responsible for ensuring that the division complies with all company, federal, state and local environmental regulations. Provide liaison between government agencies, property owners, and the Company. Direct environmental site assessments (ESA's) for property transfers. Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assure compliance with all Federal, State and Local Environmental Health and Safety regulations related to hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and UST operation.
- Direct environmental assessments and cleanups, working with agencies and consultants to effectively manage contamination cases.
- Schedule and direct environmental oversight services for UST upgrades, replacements, removals and closures.
- File claims, both private insurance and State Fund, and supporting documents to appropriate parties for reimbursement of contamination cleanup expenditures.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on hazardous Materials Management Plans (SARA Title III) and Leak Monitoring and Response Plans.
- Schedule and coordinate annual UST system integrity testing and monitoring system certifications.
- File UST/hazardous materials/hazardous waste permit applications/corrections and UST registrations.
- Submit unauthorized release reports and other notifications to agencies, property owners, and other authorized interested parties.
- Assist development and adoption of new company regulations, policies and procedures.
- Process and submit Board of Equalization tax returns for hazardous waste generator fees, manifest fees, and EPA ID# verification fees.
- Set up and monitor third-party services and manages accounts payable consistent with competitive pricing as it relates to environmental services.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
- A working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and Cal/EPA law pertaining to hazardous materials, hazardous waste, ad workplace safety, as implemented under various Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) regulations, is required.
- State registration, such as Registered Environmental Assessor (REA), Registered Geologist (RG), Registered Civil Engineer (RCE), or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS), is preferred.
- Completion of a recognized Certificate Program (e.g., Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management, or Certificate in Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation) is a plus.
- Proficient computer skills
Desired Previous Job Experience
- BS Degree in physical, life or environmental sciences, civil, chemical, geotechnical, or environmental engineering, is desirable.
- 5 years of progressive environmental experience, preferably within the retail fuels or convenience store industry.
- Varied background with general knowledge of EH&S issues, hazardous materials and waste management,
toxicology, motor fuel storage and dispensing equipment, and emergency response procedures, is desired.
