Essential responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for pouring molten metal (babbitt) inside of a metal cylinder while the cylinder is rotating in a centrifugal casting machine.
- Cleans working material by dipping into cleaning solutions prior to casting.
- Positions work piece on spinning plates.
- Heats work piece prior to pouring molten babbitt.
- Transfers molten Babbitt from pot to job with hand ladle.
- Pours sufficient metal into work piece to fulfill job requirements.
- Maintains proper temperature in Babbitt pots to ensure proper pouring qualities
- Must be able to maintain accurate records. Counts, weights and records number of units of materials used, keeps purchasing aware of stock levels.
- Ability to withstand a hot environment, but not as hot as a foundry.
- Ability to work on own
- Work accordance with established safety procedures, including following required safety PPE.
- Responsible for keeping room and equipment clean
What we are looking for:
- The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude
- Die casting / foundry background is desired, but not required
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent attendance record
- Willing to learn more areas of our production including machining when babbitting is not needed.
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Must be able to do basic math
- Must be able to read tape measure and ruler. Caliper is a plus.
- Must be able to complete paperwork documenting all aspects of metal pour for customers.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
