Job Title: Thermoforming Lead Operator/Trainer

SUMMARY
Conducts hourly training for all levels of personnel in Thermoforming and assists with the development of training programs, sets up and operates machines as needed, by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Establishes an environment to instruct and communicate training assistance to entry level hourly finishers, focusing on job retention
- Assists with the training of operators and robot tenders
- Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, safety practices, refresher training, and other related training as needed
- Tests trainees to measure progress and complete appropriate paperwork
- Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
- Issues tools & safety equipment to new hires
- Confers with management to gain knowledge of work situation requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies
- Assists with developing finisher training guidelines and assist in determining instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, team leader training, conferences, meetings, and workshops
- Participates and attends meetings, when necessary, of managers, supervisors, and work units to ensure effective interpersonal communication among participants as well as to address human relations issues
- Sets up and operates a rotary plastic thermoforming machine including all support equipment and/or tends an industrial robot used to trim plastic thermoformed parts to specifications and coordinate the finisher’s activities at the machine
- Special projects as assigned
- Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred, two to three years’ experience as a Thermoformer Operator or Robot Machine Tender; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluency in English is required. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents and the ability to effectively present information to all levels of employees including top management in a variety of settings is required.
REASONING ABILITY
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is required. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described in this section are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to setup and operate thermoforming machines for bedliners, wheel wells, and smart ditches; finish bedliners, wheel wells, and smart ditches; grind scrap and clean work area. The following are maximum physical demands highlighted by a full job analysis: climbing up to 11 rung ladder; maintain crouched positions for up to 3 minutes; utilize up to 26 pounds of push and pull force; grip strength of 25 pounds; carrying 36 pounds (individually, as part of 2-person 72 pound lift) up to 17 feet and stacking up to 69 inches; shoveling and throwing scrap up to 5 pounds up to 70 inches in height; and constant use of tools including router, drill, rivet gun, rasp/scribe, and fine manipulation tasks.
On rare occasion, only select employees/shift may be required to lift 86 pounds from knuckle to waist height.

The production area temperatures can fluctuate significantly based on the time of year. The noise levels can be moderate to high. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required while on production floor. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required. The noise level in the office is usually quiet. The noise level in production is usually moderate.
WORK AVAILABLITY AND TRAVEL
Must have the ability to work all shift schedules, periodic overtime and be available for periodic weekend work.
