The Plant Utilities Supervisor has overall responsibility for the managing the associated utilities providing equipment, such as Boilers, Compressors, Air Dryer and Water Treatment Plant and it’s associate ancillary equipment, for the Paper Machines and Converting Assets. This includes responsibility for safety, compliance, ensuring chemical quality specifications are met and that productivity and costs are within budgeted amounts. The individual will work closely with the paper mill team and others within the organization to drive improvements and create long term value. The Plant Utilities Supervisor reports to the Paper Mill Manager - LDC.
Accountabilities
- Lead the Boiler room group consisting of 8 boiler operators, which also including managing performance, ensuring individuals have the skills necessary to perform their tasks, participating in recruitment/selection process and other managerial responsibilities
- Participate/lead in the development, prioritization, and implementation of a long term improvement strategy (people, processes, equipment and capital) for the Utilities and associate ancillary equipment
- Lead the drive for improvement in all areas of Operational Excellent including compliance, environmental, health and safety, reliability, productions, costs, quality and capital projects
- Ensure that safety methods and procedures are followed to assure compliance with Kruger policies
- Analyze and assess short-term and long term action plans for the continual improvement of the department to meet maximum operating efficiency
- Maintain a quality focus and be directly involved in any complaints: establish processes so customer and/or internal complaints are minimized
- Work with maintenance team to prioritize, develop and manage day-in-and-day out machine maintenance and preventative maintenance program (PM’s)
- All Supervisory personnel are responsible to ensure that their employees have the needed competencies to apply the operating procedures so that environmental controls are adequately implemented
- Additional responsibilities and/or projects as may be assigned by the Paper Mill Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.), Pulp & Paper Science or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience leading an operational support group in a manufacturing operation, preferably paper manufacturing
- Supervisory experience working in a unionized environment preferred
- Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coach, teach, and manage people.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills (technical and others).
- Demonstrated technical tissue paper making knowledge and skills ideal.
- Ability to work as part of a team and with production management.
- Provide consultation, coaching, facilitation or teaching with employees.
- Ability to plan, organize, execute and works to specific goals and objectives
- Ability to change and adapt to new situations
- Office procedures, methods, including computers and applicable CMMS, SAP, Microsoft Office and other applicable software and databases
- Key Competencies including: candor/integrity, influencing & building partnerships, team work, accountability, problem solving, and customer focus
