Position Overview :

We are seeking a skilled and reliable CNC Operator to join our team in the production of high-precision aerospace and defense components. As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating CNC machines, ensuring that parts are produced to exact specifications with high-quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of machining processes, and the ability to operate and maintain CNC equipment in a fast-paced, safety-conscious manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities :

CNC Machine Operation : Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines, including mills and lathes, to manufacture aerospace and defense parts in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
Material Handling : Load and unload raw materials, fixtures, and tools into the CNC machines and ensure the correct material is being processed.
Quality Assurance : Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and specifications. Report any discrepancies or defects to the supervisor or quality control.
Machine Setup and Tool Changes : Assist in setting up machines by selecting appropriate tooling, adjusting machine settings, and changing tools as required for different production runs.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance : Identify any issues with machine performance or part quality and make adjustments as needed. Perform routine maintenance tasks and report any machine malfunctions to the maintenance team.
Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of production runs, including work orders, machine logs, and inspection results. Document any machine adjustments or changes to ensure traceability and compliance.
Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment at all times. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures when handling machinery and materials.
Collaboration : Work closely with the production team, quality inspectors, and engineers to ensure smooth operations and meet production goals.
Continuous Improvement : Actively participate in process improvement initiatives by suggesting ways to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance part quality.

Qualifications :

Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-precision industries.

Technical Skills : Familiarity with CNC machine operation (mills and lathes) and basic understanding of CNC programming and setup. Experience with FANUC, Siemens, or similar controls is a plus.

Attention to Detail : Ability to work with tight tolerances and complex parts. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, defect-free parts.

Problem-Solving Skills : Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues with machinery, tooling, or parts.

Communication Skills : Good verbal and written communication skills to document and report production status and issues.

Certifications (preferred) : Certification in CNC operation or machining, such as from NIMS or other recognized programs, is a plus.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certifications or coursework in machining or related fields are a plus.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to stand for long periods and operate CNC machines.

Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.

Manual dexterity to handle tooling and operate machines.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy, and dynamic environment.
