KS Bank is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to work in our Smithfield Operations Center. Primary duties for this role include, but not limited to:
• Responsible for day-to-day processing of accounts payable function.
• Reports sales taxes plus estimated and backup withholding taxes.
• Reconciles and reviews various general ledger accounts to make certain the overall balancing is accurate.
Researches issues to ensure that any out-of-balance situations are resolved in a timely manner.
• Ensures financial practices conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Assist with the accounting for fixed assets.
• Assists with internal audits to assess effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency
of operations.
• Assist internal auditor with various task including putting reports and entering data in the Issue Tracker.
• Assist with uploading data to secure portals for various internal and external audits.
• Assist with branch audits, including reviewing quarterly audits.
• Updating the accounting and audit pages for Employee Connect (internal website)
• Serves as backup support for other accounting staff.
Qualifications Include:
• Ideal candidate would hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting plus 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in bank auditing or accounting would be preferred; previous public accounting experience would be desired.
• General Ledger (G/L) experience and knowledge of balancing techniques is required.
• Must have knowledge of the accounting function and concepts with the ability to problem solve and translate information to staff.
• Problem solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneous are essential.
• Proficiency with various software programs such as Microsoft office products and Windows operating system.
• Previous experience working with accounting software would be an asset.
• Must have excellent accounting, financial, computer, and communication skills.
• Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, cost conscious and have a critical eye to be able to detect numerical inconsistencies or problems.
