Designer

Role and Responsibilities:

A Piping Designer’s responsibilities will be focused on supporting our existing customer base while also supporting internal stakeholders through the development of KSI-specific standards. Successful candidates will exhibit proven experience in the use of CADWorx, and/or Plant3D.

Outstanding candidates should possess strong communication & interpersonal skills, have experience working in design project teams, leading discipline-specific initiatives, and be proficient with techniques and commands.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Prepare 3D models associated with a variety of industry and project scopes of work.

2. Interpret engineering & construction drawings/schematics, including P&ID’s.

3. Produce fit-for-purpose design packages catered to the construction/execution teams.

4. Integrate aerial, laser scan, and survey data into 3D models.

5. Participate in team meetings and keep active communication with customers and management.

6. Draw master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.

7. Work with a project team lead where the team consists of other designers, drafters, construction personnel, and project-specific engineering disciplines.

8. Compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety regulatory requirements, applicable code, programs, policies, and procedures.

9. Follow all KSI and customer safety policies and procedures.

10. Additional tasks as required.

11. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.

Qualifications/ Skills:

• Ability to read and write in English
• Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English
• Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
• Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
• Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office
• Experience with CADWorx and/or Plant3D
• Advanced experience with AutoCAD
• Knowledge and experience using survey data as it pertains to 3D model preparation
• Must be detail oriented
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Must be able to work in a team environment

Education and Experience

Preferably 2 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools, materials and terminology.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, hold a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record check and be insurable through KSI’s insurance carrier, criminal background check and E-verify as a condition of successful consideration for employment.

• Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force
• Bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing

Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task.

The work environment and working conditions described here are representative of those that are typical of the job and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). This position may require field visits. The locations vary from site to site. Majority of the work is construction-based work. Walking and working surface vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
