KSI Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer who is interested in joining a multi-disciplinary team focused on serving relationship-based clients and internal business units across multiple states.

KSI is a privately-owned, sole-source service provider of engineering, fabrication, construction, and maintenance services to multiple industries including upstream oil and gas production, natural gas treating and transportation, refining, co-generation, heavy industrial, utilities, water treatment, and all types of pipelines.

KSI's engineering, design, and survey division also provides technical support services to the municipal, land development, water, and agricultural industries.

The Senior Civil Engineer’s responsibilities will be focused on supporting our existing customer base in addition to internal stakeholders through the execution of a variety of projects and internal continuous improvement initiatives. Project involvement would span from the FEED / scoping stage all the way through turnover & inspections in the field.

Successful candidates will exhibit proven experience leading discipline-specific efforts of capital engineering & construction projects, exhibit strong communication & interpersonal skills, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.

Requirements, Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • CA Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of career experience in site development and design of various projects (e.g. residential, commercial, mixed-use, public / private entities, projects subject to DSA approval)
  • Proficiency using advanced Civil 3D / AutoCAD
  • Experience in general and complex civil engineering design topics
  • Knowledge of civil engineering topics including hydraulic / hydrology, storm water quality, geometric layout, geotechnical and structural analysis
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license

Essential Job Functions :

  • Work with Principal Engineer's to learn and facilitate managerial aspects of assigned projects
  • Lead discipline-specific efforts associated with projects and initiatives.
  • Manage discipline-specific project teams consisting of designers, drafters, and project engineers.
  • Effectively communicate with co-consultants and governing municipalities / agencies to seek required approvals
  • Lead coordination with various project stakeholders, including but not limited to architects, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, arborists, surveyors, contractors, etc. for various design aspects of the project
  • Lead meetings, site visits, and field inspections with contractors and project consultants as needed on behalf of the customer
  • Analyze technical drawings, interpreting specifications, and determining the discipline-specific requirements of a given project.
  • Posses design responsibility for site development plans and documents (e.g. grading and drainage plans, site and street improvement plans, storm water quality, utility plans, parking lot layout, tentative maps, feasibility exhibits, etc.)
  • Perform and / or oversee design calculations including earthwork quantities, impervious surface areas, drainage analysis, etc.
  • Perform a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment. (i.e. Civil3D, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS)
  • Collaborate with drafters, designers, other engineers, and clients to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
  • Must create, read, and interpret engineering reports.
  • Ensure compliance with industry and customer specifications, codes, and requirements
  • Complete quality assurance on all drawings and projects
  • Analyze and approving various construction and engineering plans.
  • Prepare project proposals, schedules, and budgets

  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Excellent analytical and time-management skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Working Conditions : The work environment and working conditions described here are representative of those that are typical of the job and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).

    Working Hours : Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include modified 9 / 80 and 5-8’s. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
