Our client is a family seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and empathetic female to join their team as a Direct Support Mentor. This part-time position based in Marion, Iowa, and offers a consistent weekly schedule with a mix of morning and late afternoon/evening shifts—ideal for someone who is reliable, encouraging, and values routine with flexibility.

Work Expectations & Schedule Details
- Minimum of 15 hours of work per week, with guaranteed pay for 20 hours
- Shifts are typically 3 hours in length
- Weekly schedule includes a mix of morning and late afternoon/evening shifts
Preferred availability:
- Two morning shifts between Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (pick two consistent days)
- Three late afternoon/evening shifts, including:
- Monday or Tuesday (pick one consistent day)
- Wednesday and Friday
Opportunity for additional hours/pay:
- Occasional weekend availability (approximately once per month) is appreciated
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentorship & emotional support: Provide one-on-one guidance, encouragement, and companionship to support confidence and personal growth
- Promote healthy living: Model and support wellness routines including nutrition, physical activity, and self-care
- Build life skills: Help develop and maintain routines related to money management, housekeeping, hygiene, and meal planning
- Engage in the community: Participate in local outings and activities, offering companionship and promoting community connection
- Transportation: Drive the client to community activities as needed (mileage reimbursed)
- Documentation: Record brief progress notes and relevant information to support ongoing care and communication
- Team collaboration: Partner with the family and existing support team to ensure a consistent, empowering environment
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- References: Professional references required
- Lifestyle & Mindset: A genuine commitment to healthy living, wellness, and a positive, encouraging outlook
- Experience: Familiarity with supporting individuals with sensory and processing sensitivities is helpful but not required
- Gender Requirement: Must be female, as specified by the family
- Communication Skills: Strong in empathy, patience, and active listening
- Adaptability: Able to adjust to changing needs and celebrate the client’s unique progress and goals
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal and caregiver background check
- Mentorship Experience: Prior experience in mentoring, coaching, or direct support roles is preferred but not essential
