Project Engineer – Industrial Construction
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

Our client, a well-established industrial general contractor, is seeking a Project Engineer to support estimating, project management, and field operations. This role offers hands-on experience in bidding, procurement, and execution of large-scale industrial projects.
This is a client-confidential opportunity with a union shop that manages projects across an 80-mile radius of Cedar Rapids.

What You’ll Do:
Estimating & Preconstruction:
- Assist in project estimating, including bid take-offs from client drawings and scope documents.
- Participate in pre-bid walk-throughs with project managers and superintendents.
- Learn estimating procedures and vendor relationships to support accurate and competitive bids.
- Draft bid letters and project scopes.
Project Operations & Support:
- Assist project managers with pre-job planning and execution.
- Procure materials and supplies for projects and warehouse needs.
- Coordinate job site logistics, including deliveries and field documentation.
- Ensure all safety requirements and protocols are prepared and implemented.
- Perform site visits to assess safety, quality, and project progress.
- Support project teams with staffing coordination and issue resolution.
- Assist in project closeout, final documentation, and invoice generation.
Who You Are:
- Self-motivated & adaptable – able to handle shifting project needs and field demands.
- Strong communicator & team player – work effectively with project teams, vendors, and clients.
- Detail-oriented & analytical – capable of supporting estimating, cost tracking, and field coordination.
What You Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with Bluebeam, Excel, and Microsoft Project preferred. Training provided on company standards.
- Industry Experience: Prior industrial construction experience is a plus but not required for motivated candidates eager to learn.
