Project Manager – Commercial Construction
Location: Phoenix, AZ | In-Office
Client: Confidential | Industrial General Contractor
Our client is a well-established general contractor based in the Phoenix area, specializing in high-quality commercial projects—including, but not limited to, hotels, retail, and office buildings. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team and lead construction projects ranging from $5 million to $25 million, including ground-up multi-story builds.
Position Summary
As Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering construction projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has a solid background in hotel and commercial construction, a strong appreciation for high-end finishes, and the interpersonal skills to build lasting client and subcontractor relationships. This is not a hard bid environment—success in this role depends on your ability to negotiate, communicate, and collaborate effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of construction projects from start to finish
- Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Negotiate bids and pricing for subcontracted work in a collaborative, service-oriented environment
- Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards
- Conduct site inspections, identify risks, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Facilitate regular team and stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment and resolve issues
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 5–10 years of project management experience in commercial construction
- Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, codes, and safety regulations (Arizona-specific experience preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate with subcontractors and vendors in a non–hard bid setting
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Skilled in project management software and scheduling tools
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, LEED, or other relevant certifications
- Experience with large-scale projects and sustainable construction practices
- Strong financial acumen and cost control experience
- Familiarity with green building certifications
