Job Overview
The Shop Foreman is the front-line supervisor in the shop overseeing all aspects and activities occurring in the shop or yard. The Shop Manager/Foreman should provide direction to all staff working in the area, ensuring efficiency and productivity of workers. The Shop Foreman is a skilled welder able to perform duties to enhance the efficiency of the KT Waterfront Construction process. The Shop Foreman organizes and controls the daily operations of the shop and yard.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
· Safety is priority. Shop Foreman must oversee operations to ensure safety measures are in place to minimize risk of injury or accident.
· Shop organization and cleanliness – Everything should have a place and be in its place at the end of the working day. The shop should be swept and cleaned at the end of each working day.
· Shop Management
· Manage shop personnel to maintain productivity.
· Teach employees how to use equipment and various welding techniques.
· Shop Inventory
· Ensure identified dock building materials are continually in stock, ordering as necessary with office approval.
· Components – ensure components and cradles are in stock at all times.
· Equipment room – all equipment in the inventory room is under your control. Equipment should be checked out and in by you ensuring that all equipment is returned without damage. Any damages found upon inspection should be reported to management.
- Inventory Room
· Oversee that materials are ordered as needed to keep up stock.
· Shop Machinery
· Machinery in the shop is under your control.
· Regular service and PM’s are required and should be documented.
· Machinery should be locked and covered when not in use.
· Regular service and PM’s on all trailers and yard equipment is required and should be documented.
· Fabrication and Welding Projects
· Complete assigned fabrication and welding projects ensuring proper measurements, construction, and installation of a high-quality end product.
· Complete prefabrication of project kits prior to start of construction according to plans provided so all materials are cut and fit for assembly on site.
· Communication – effective communication skills required to ensure information is provided to upper management, co-supervisors, employees, and customers.
· Detail Orientation – Shop manager must be detail oriented.
· Deliveries – receive all materials delivered ensuring product delivered matches delivery ticket. Sign and date ticket and deliver to office.
· Personnel – have materials ready for prospective employees and assist with testing.
· Security – Ensure equipment room, machinery and shop are secured at the end of each business day.
· General – complete duties as assigned by supervisor.
Compensation and benefits:
· Salaried position commiserates with experience.
- Employer pays half premium of health benefits after 60 days of employment.
