POSITION SUMMARY
The BREATHE Program Lead Counselor position is for the KU After School Program BREATHE, an evidence-based therapeutic summer day camp for children with Attention- Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The Lead Counselor will provide a fun and engaging experience for children and implement behavioral treatment protocols in accordance with the BREATHE manual. The lead counselor will oversee the duties of counselors and communicate regularly with program directors regarding group progress and concerns.
The Lead Program Counselor will attend four full-day trainings, 8am-5pm May 27th -30th, 2025. The Lead Counselor will work 15 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday’s 8 : 30a.m – 12 : 00p.m. and Thursday’s 8 : 30 a.m. - 1 : 00 p.m.) which includes staff meetings and additional training. Counselors will get at least 72 hours of direct clinical experience plus 70 hours of training, supervision, and support activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working with other staff members to plan and coordinate program events.
Other duties as assigned.
Education : High School Graduate or equivalent with one year of college coursework in a social science or education field required
Experience : Volunteer or work experience with youth.
