Position Description:
The Youth Experience Guide is responsible for leading age-appropriate tours and activities as part of Kualoa’s Education Department. This role involves delivering engaging lessons that integrate Kualoa’s ranch history, Hawaiian culture, language, and ʻāina (land) place-based education. The Guide will develop and implement lesson plans that support the program's curriculum, assist in the research and evaluation of educational materials, and participate in the maintenance and upkeep of the campus. This includes landscape work, loʻi (taro patch) care, ʻāina restoration, and animal husbandry.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead tours and activities tailored to specific age or grade levels, focusing on Hawaiian culture, language, and environmental education.
Loves Hawaiian crafts. Lei making, Hananoeau, etc.
Assist with the research, evaluation, facilitation, and continuous improvement of the educational curriculum.
Contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of the campus, including landscape work, loʻi care, ʻāina restoration, and animal care.
Foster a positive and engaging learning environment for participants of all ages.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of Hawaiian culture, language, sustainability, and environmental awareness.
Strong communication skills with a positive and professional attitude.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least two years of experience working with children or adults in an educational setting.
Experience in group facilitation, curriculum development, lesson planning, and team building with various age groups is preferred.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
