Job description


The Turf Project Manager is a Project Management position which will coordinate all activities to define, develop and deliver product solutions to the global market. This position will work with a cross functional team from Product Engineering, Production, Product Marketing, and Commercial Sales/Support with accountability to Turf Senior Management. Success in this role will depend on full understanding of the new product project, the risks associated with it, mitigating these risks and constructive collaboration / communication across the global Kubota Teams. This role will have an additional emphasis on the adaption of a well-established Kubota Corporate process to the needs of the North American Product Development activities.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Execute Kubota's product delivery process to deliver the Turf product portfolio.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment to the execution of the Kubota Product Delivery Process.
  • Support strategic cross functional relationships established by leadership to execute new product development projects.
  • Identify potential project roadblocks early and implement countermeasures with key stakeholders and escalate where necessary. Document and manage a risk registry for each project
  • Facilitate and document phase-gate reviews (Kakuka process).
  • Focal point with senior management to maintain knowledge on project status and prepare appropriate reports.
  • Understand, document and communicate project validation, performance verification, manufacturing readiness, and supplier readiness.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8 years experience in new product development related to program management, engineering, R&D, and/or quality
  • At least 3 years leading others in and engineering/design activities.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with project stakeholders (client and internal), end-users, business partners, and technical team members to ensure proper company processes and product development plan alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, independently and in a matrix management environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), MS project, Google Workspace or equivalent
  • Outstanding relationship management skills to successfully influence without direct authority
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels & functional areas within the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing stakeholder communication and balancing stakeholder expectations to project performance requirements.
  • Demonstrated accomplishments for balancing of project priorities and communicating progress toward project objectives.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Advanced level degree(s) in Engineering, Business or related disciplines
  • Understanding of Technical Product Management and Prod Life Cycle Management for vehicle systems and embedded hardware & software.
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of statistics
  • Demonstrated ability to create and interpret corporate financial information
  • Multicultural experience
  • Multilingual capabilities, Japanese - English preferred
