Job purpose
Turf Engineering of North America (TENA) is seeking an experienced Engineering Test
Technician to support our newly established R&D facility here in Gainesville, Ga . This position
will be a Sr. level technician, responsible for supporting the Field Test Team in the development
and execution of tests performed onsite and around the world.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provides guidance and support to less experienced test technicians and engineers.
- Capable of designing and setting up test fixtures/experimental devices to support test activity in the area of their expertise
- Supports test engineers with assembly, disassembly and inspection of test machines during the test process
- Supports in the execution of test plans that require test location setup, test vehicle/specimen configuration setup, and installation of various test sensors to include (temperature, pressure, displacement, sound, vibration, load, etc.) to collect data out in the field and has the ability to verify correct setup
- Knowledgeable in (ANSI/ISO) test standards, as well as best practices, that are used frequently in your assigned test area
- Supports in the collection of written and recorded data that goes into our test reports
- Assists compliance engineering team in calibration and record keeping of test equipment
- Can read and understand engineering prints as it relates to performing the job
- Transport test vehicles off-site and be able to participate in overnight stays locally and abroad
- Must obtain (within 60 days) and maintain a valid DOT license and Kubota Driver's List status
- Studies and ensures adherence to test safety policies
- The team member must also be able to work extended and flexible work hours to interface with workers on all shifts as well as international business units and must be physically able to travel domestically and internationally (Up to 10% of travel)
Essential Skills and Experience
- High school diploma and/or GED
- English language competency including demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- 5-6 years working in a test group/environment
- Ability to install various types of test sensors and equipment (strain gauges, load cells, torque transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, microphones, etc..)
- Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work with little to no oversight
- Eligible to drive truck and trailer (KMA Driver's List plus must maintain a valid DOT license)
- Able to perform basic fabrication (cutting, grinding, drilling, etc)
- Ability to use basic hand tools (torque wrench, mechanical tools, etc)
- Willing to travel as necessary
- Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Associate degree or certificate in a technology field
- Experience with setting up and using various measuring devices
- Experience with outdoor power equipment (UTV's, zero turn mowers, loaders, excavators)
- Troubleshooting/repair of automotive and landscaping equipment
