BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
As the Trade Compliance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the company adheres to international trade laws and regulations outlined in the company’s Trade Compliance Manual. In this supportive and team-oriented position you will learn and apply global trade knowledge to help with the day-to-day operations to comply with import / export trade regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines:
Lead recordkeeping compliance for all records relating to import and export activities.
Execute and manage ACE reports to assist with record keeping and audits.
Effectively identify and escalate risks that could result in penalty or jeopardize Kubota through corresponding compliance audit.
Assist with keeping the Import Compliance Procedures Manual and its appendices up to date.
Participating in and/or conducting training on Kubota’s import compliance procedures and Customs requirements.
Maintaining a master training log.
Remaining current on Kubota’s policies and procedures related to the import process and relevant Customs laws and regulations, particularly with those related to the products that Kubota imports.
Communicating with other affiliates and areas, including operations, purchasing, engineering, receiving, and accounting regarding import transactions.
Maintaining valid Powers of Attorney authorizing Brokers and freight forwarders to act on behalf of Kubota.
Gathering item specifications needed to determine the correct classification of new parts and managing Kubota’s classification database
Assist with quarterly post entry audits and annual product classification database testing.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred:
With a degree at least 3 years trade compliance experience in-house, as a customs broker, trade consultant or a combination thereof
In lieu of a degree at least 5 years trade compliance experience in-house, as a customs broker, trade consultant or a combination thereof required.
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred or certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Demonstrated experience managing inquiries, performing research, providing guidance, and working with a variety of businesses and personnel at all levels to creatively address and solve international compliance issues based on the needs of the business
Interpreting import/export laws, rulings, regulations and translating them into reasonable business practices
Preparing and filing required forms and submissions to US Customs and other government agencies
Demonstrated knowledge of
Import entry process
Export declarations and process
Sanctioned party screening systems and process
Harmonized Tariff Schedule and ECCN classification
Free Trade Agreement qualification.
ACE portal
Customs broker selection and compliance oversight
Creating and presenting training
Working with external service providers ensuring they provide records, reports, and system access
High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite, Gmail, and Internet applications; familiarly with ERP (SAP), Global Trade systems, and ACE preferred
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting; strong business acumen, risk-based decision maker
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
KNOWLEDGE:
TECHNOLOGY: Ability to learn and use Microsoft & Google Suite.
TRAVEL: 10%
