As an HVAC Service Tech, you will work independently on commercial HVAC mechanical equipment, including but not limited to:
- Makeup air systems
- Ventilation systems
- Package heat/cool rooftop units (10 to 125 tons)
- Large split systems
- Precision cooling systems for computer rooms
- Variable refrigerant flow systems
- Boilers (Preferred)
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing corrective repairs, and conducting maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. Perform scheduled tasks and respond to service calls as needed.
You should have the ability to carry out HVAC installations through the HVAC service department, which include, but are not limited to, refrigeration piping, small mechanical piping systems, applied HVAC equipment installation, and control upgrades.
Key tasks involve diagnosing mechanical faults in commercial HVAC systems, documenting all work performed through accurate completion of field service reports and equipment documentation sheets, and submitting all required paperwork in a timely manner.
Additionally, provide recommendations for system improvements, upgrades, and replacements. This position requires scheduled and rotational on-call duties, including after normal business hours, weekends, and holidays.
You will interact face-to-face with customers to ensure clear and accurate communication, so professional appearance and conduct are always expected when engaging with customers and colleagues.
You must comply with all company safety regulations and demonstrate a proven understanding of commercial HVAC systems and HVAC building automation controls.
General Requirements
- An associate degree or equivalent from a technical or trade school, along with a certificate in HVAC service. (Preferred)
- Universal EPA Certification
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
- Ability to use necessary software to process paperwork.
Physical Demands

- Must be able to stoop, stand, climb, and frequently lift a minimum of 70 lbs. of equipment (including pumps, tools, and ladders) while safely installing rigging and lifting devices.
- Regularly required to crouch, stoop, and reach in order to install or move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending the legs and spine.
- Ability to speak clearly so that others can understand you.
- Ability to read and comprehend information presented both orally and in writing.
- Regularly required to use vision to read printed material, drawings, and schematics.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to access rooftop units and work at heights and in some cases tight or enclosed spaces.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and climates.
- Must be able to travel, with some requiring overnight stays.
