Are you ready for a new and exciting leadership opportunity with one of the most successful logistics organizations worldwide? Here at Kuehne Nagel, our Shelbyville, KY site is looking for a new General Manager to join our team.

Your Role

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse. This includes operations, customer service, office operations and IT. The General Manager plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls all office and warehouse activities. The selection, professional development, and mentorship of all warehouse employees are your key responsibilities. The General Manager assists top management in establishing warehouse performance objectives and strategic planning. They are also accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives in regards to productivity, customer service and overall profit.

Your Responsibilities

  • Accountable to deliver a safe and secure facility that is well organized.
  • Attract, develop and retain high performing, diverse talent within the business; build future leaders through ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Maintain best in class inventory controls
  • Ensure daily goals, pertinent facility information and company-wide communications are clearly communicated to all staff members in a timely, effective manner.
  • Ensure the appropriate processes are followed when identifying and investigating the root cause of Nonconformance Reports; ensures the implementation of Corrective Actions, if needed.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, sustainability and support improvement initiatives by encouraging collaboration and teamwork amongst all staff members.
  • Plan, direct and implement warehouse operations and administrative support to meet prescribed productivity and service goals.
  • Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety & Security programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property
  • Assist in the establishment of customer service standards for all accounts, communicating these standards to all personnel. Maintain appropriate contact with all accounts and respond to requests when required.
  • Develop an annual operating budget and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue and profit parameters.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or equivalent work experience required
  • 7 years of Management experience in a 3PL environment with P&L responsibility – preferably within the Healthcare or Aerospace sector
  • 5-10 years experience in Contract Logistics / 3PL / Distribution Centre / Warehouse environment
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement, P&L, Facilities management, and Security is a must
  • Experience overseeing 200 warehouse employees at a GM level.
  • Working knowledge of Inventory control, cycle counts, and a proven track record of inventory accuracy.
