Excavation / Earthwork Foreman

Duties and Responsiibilities

• Coordinate construction activities on commercial projects
• Inspect construction work as necessary and ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards
• Plan, diagram, and lay-out work
• With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop a complete understanding of the contract plans and specifications, layout, installation, and/or construction. Review with Superintendent at the start of and throughout the project
• Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed
• Listen to other employee's and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns, and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
• Complete crew's timecards for correct hours and cost coding
• Monitor the progress of the work accomplished relative to the 3-week Short Interval Schedule
• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to subordinates
• Monitor productivity rates and review with crew members
• Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained
• Be self-motivated and work productively. Motivate crews properly
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• 3 or more years of experience
• Must be reliable and dependable
• Grade checking capabilities.
• Must be able to work independently and within a team
• Prior experience successfully managing mass earthwork and grading
• Complete, compile, oversee and submit various paperwork related to safety, equipment, etc.
• Capable of personnel management and accountability
• Must be able to work in a safety-conscious manner
• Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented
• Must be results-minded
• Must have good management skills
• Must have the ability to schedule work and track results
• Must have proficient knowledge of construction practices
• Ability to read plans and blueprints
• Ability to proficiently operate a backhoe, grader, loader, compactor, dozer, excavator, and other pieces of heavy equipment

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year

• Grade Control Systems: 2 years (Preferred)
• Excavation: 10 years (Preferred)
• Underground Utilities: 7 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CDL (Preferred)

Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
