SUMMARY OF POSITIONS:

Performs repetitive workstation operations to produce a Box Assembly, Body-in-White Vehicle or to assemble those components of a Box Assembly/Body-in-White Vehicle.

NOTE: Individuals will work 1st or 2nd shifts so must be willing to work on both.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs any assembly-type functions, using hand and/or power tools per the written standard work instructions.
  • Ensure that the part flow to the line is maintained and take a proactive approach to maintaining production requirements.
  • Verify the quality of the parts produced meet the designated Customer Requirements, and ensure all quality/environmental procedures, standard work instructions, temporary process change notifications and visual aids are followed.
  • Free effort employees are to make decision on whether to five (5) hole vehicles to manage cycle time on the panel line.
  • Report any problems or issues that may impact production and/or quality of the product, whether process or people related, to a member of Management or a Team Leader.
  • Maintain consistent management of cycle time.
  • Performs daily housekeeping and plant organizational requirements on the production floor.
  • Shall be responsible for KUKA Toledo safety and accident prevention and follow all safety procedures as outlined in the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).

AUTHORITIES:

Production Operators have the authority to stop production to notify and correct quality problems.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Maintain a team-oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provide for individual growth.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies and procedure manuals and operating instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Inspection skills: Ability to review/inspect components or assemblies to determine their acceptability or rejectability as dictated by specific customer requirements, the Corporate Appearance Standard or any functional requirements.
  • Reasoning ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to perform detailed simple written or oral instruction. Ability to deal with problems inherent in working in a very diversified human atmosphere.

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one year in a like or similar capacity preferred.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, reaching, pushing and/or pulling. Employees performing this job regularly use both manual and tools and powered hand tools (electric and/or air powered).
  • Employees are occasionally exposed to lubricants to assist in the assembly of components.
  • Employees are occasionally exposed to cleaning solvents during the assembly of components.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near powered motor vehicles, power tools, and automated assembly fixtures.
