What are the responsibilities and job description for the Labor Relations/Safety Representative position at KUKA?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The employee performs a wide variety of confidential Human Resources related clerical duties in the following functional areas: employment, employee relations, safety and training. Assist in the implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required:
- Compose memos, letters, departmental correspondence, projects, reports, documents and disciplinary notices as needed or required.
- Maintain confidential department files on employment, labor, safety, and training.
- Aid with Labor Relations and Safety activities.
- Consults with Senior HR Generalist for payroll and benefit matters for employees.
- Responsible for being the Senior HR Generalist Backup, as needed.
- Post internal hourly openings assist departments in filling these positions.
- Assist Lead Labor Relations Specialist as required or requested, in assessing and communicating hourly manpower needs or requests.
- Conduct new hire orientation and safety training for hourly, salaried and temporary personnel.
- Coordinate various general facility training classes and document those classes in e-Drive (Entropy) as required.
- Monitor & track probationary evaluation status for hourly employees.
- Assist the Lead Labor Relations Specialist in maintaining company accident reports and OSHA Log.
- Conduct formal investigations for safety incidents or concerns and document the findings. Prepare disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Consult with management, regarding employee discipline. Prepare and administer disciplinary write-ups as appropriate.
- Track attendance for hourly employees daily.
- Post weekly schedule requirements for all hourly employees.
- Coordinate forklift training classes and maintain forklift license log.
- Assist all departments with resolution, interpretation and communication of labor relations issues that may arise.
- Coordinate monthly portable fire extinguisher inspection for KTPO and other safety inspections as necessary.
- Completes the appropriate training to sign medical waste manifests.
- Assure the proper safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available for employees and visitors daily.
- Track the annual prescription safety eyeglass usage.
- Participate in the facility safety committee, act as a facility emergency responder, and serve in the emergency evacuation team.
- Maintain plant bulletin boards, posting announcements and memos as appropriate.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Five (5) years’ experience in the Human Resources or related field. Manufacturing and union experience.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State employment law compliance.
- Willing to work overtime, including weekends as necessary.
- Basic computer skills, emphasis on MS Excel and MS Word
- Knowledge of e-Drive (Entropy)
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred, but not mandatory.
