What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer (2nd Shift) position at KUKA?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Assist Quality Manager in the developing and monitoring of the quality assurance system. Provides assistance and advise on quality to other production departments to help improve problem identification and prompt problem resolution. NOTE: This is on 2nd shift.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
- Visit customer location to investigate customer issues.
- Document findings of investigation at customer plant.
- Visit customer location during engineering changes or program launches.
- Verify corrective action of customer complaints.
- Participate in prototype builds.
- Maintain and update Inspection Standards.
- Coordinate “New”/Revised Parts for Layout Testing.
- Ensure that capability studies are performed and interpreted.
- Chair problem solving teams.
- Chair continuous improvement teams.
- Interface with customers/suppliers.
- Ability to travel.
- Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Responsible to ensure that all employees always adhere to safety policies and procedures, operating in full compliance with department, station, corporate, OSHA requirements.
- Comply with all ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 procedures and work instructions relating to your job description.
- Must be able to work any shift and rotate shifts as required.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Maintain a team-oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provide for individual growth.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies and procedure manuals and operating instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Ability to read automotive blue prints/specifications.
- Two (2) years experience in the Quality field.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires in all positions.
- Post High School or Secondary Education in Quality or related technical field.
- Two (2) years practical experience in engineering, quality or tooling in an automotive stamping/assembly environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) or more years Automotive Quality Engineering experience.
- Automotive Supplier requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 requirements.
- Black Belt training.
- GD & T knowledge.
