Department: SOM KC Cardiovascular Medicine ----- Faculty Position Title: Assistant Professor- Cardiovascular Medicine (Advance Heart Failure & Transplant) Job Family Group: Academic Job Description Summary: Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University. The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths. Job Description: Required Qualifications Education/Certification: MD, DO, or equivalent. Completion of a three-year fellowship from an accredited institution in Cardiology One- or two-year fellowship in an accredited institution in Advanced Heart Failure. ABIM Certification in Cardiovascular Disease. Work Experience: Two years in a setting of Advanced Heart-Failure, Transplant, and Mechanical Circulator Support which included: Management of patients in the clinical area of Advanced Heart Failure and in the management of Mechanical Circulatory Support systems in patients with Advance Heart Failure. Experience in managing patients with cardiac transplants. Preferred Qualifications Certification: ABIM Certification in Advance Heart Failure. Work Experience: Experience in research and teaching efforts. Job Duties Outlined: Provide in-patient and ambulatory care to patients with advanced heart failure, transplants, and those with ventricular support devices. Participate in department and health system committees and meetings as needed.
