Department: SOM KC Internal Medicine - Palliative Medicine ----- Medicine - Palliative Position Title: Assistant Professor - Internal Medicine (Palliative Medicine) Job Family Group: Academic Job Description Summary: The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths. Job Description: Job Duties Outlined Provide medical care for palliative medicine consult service, general inpatient hospice service, and in outpatient clinical settings. On-call and weekend responsibilities are shared amongst the division. Serve in a clinician educator role with responsibility for teaching Internal Medicine residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical settings. Participate in regular educational and administrative conferences as directed by immediate supervisor, including participation on subcommittees relevant to area of practice or education. Contribute to various research, educational and clinical initiatives related to specific areas of interest and expertise. Required Qualifications Education/Certifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible in a specialty leading to Hospice and Palliative Medicine certification. Preferred Qualifications Work Experience: Experience in education at the medical student or resident level.
