Department: SOM KC Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetic and Immunology ----- Tse Lab Position Title: Research Assistant - Tse Lab Job Family Group: Professional Staff Job Description Summary: The Tse lab seeks a Research Assistant to study autoimmune responses and b-cell responses in Type 1 diabetes. Job Description: Key Roles and Responsibilities: Research Overview: Under the supervision and direction of the PI or other research staff perform research with live mouse models and human samples. Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information. Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories at KUMC. Generation of data and documentation of research performed for the preparation of published papers, as well as assistance on grant submissions and other documentation necessary for laboratory compliance. Participate in regular communication with the PIs and Post Doctorial Fellow via lab meetings and personal to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results. Compliance: Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Microbiology Department, understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols, and attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings. Required Qualifications: Education: College degree in biological sciences. Preferred Qualifications: Work Experience: Experience with research involving animals. Experience and ability to perform the following research techniques: PCR, Western blot, ELISA, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry. Skills: The applicant should be highly motivated to learn, assertive, detail-oriented, organized, can prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently. Sound judgment, strong analytical skills and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must.
