POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the assembly process in a manufacturing environment. This position oversees the assembly process, ensuring that production goals are met, while maintaining quality standards and adhering to safety regulations. The Assembly Manager will also monitor and analyze production data to identify areas of improvement and develop and implement strategies to optimize efficiency. This role requires strong leadership and decision-making skills, excellent communication and organizational abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for productivity of manufacturing area
- Responsible for efficient utilization of manpower in production area
- Responsible for staffing of manpower for production
- Responsible for producing defect free product to customer requirements
- Reviews customer issues and works with Quality Manager to implement proper countermeasure to correct such issues
- Works closely with Production Planning on scheduling and capacity concerns to ensure on time delivery
- Responsible for implementing safety and ergonomics program in production area
- Responsible for strict adherence to 5S practices in production area
- Helps establish budget numbers for production area
- Works closely with Process and Maintenance Manager on any technical issues (process, tooling, equipment, etc.)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for daily and weekly reports to Senior Operations Manager
- Responsible for monthly reports to Top Management
- Attends departmental and interdepartmental meetings as necessary
- Attends training classes and may assist in training of other Associates
- Coaching and counseling of associates (both hourly and salaried)
- Communicates with suppliers as necessary
- 5S must be a priority
- Any other duties as assigned by Senior Operations Manager
EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a plastics manufacturing environment
High School diploma or equivalent
Good computer skills a definite plus
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Satisfactory work record, including attendance
- Willingness to work overtime during the week and weekends when necessary
- High degree of attention to detail
- Knowledge of the company quality system and quality requirements from customers
- Willingness to travel
- High degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to self and others
- Must have good motivational, leadership and negotiation skills
- Must have good investigation and problem-solving skills
- Must have good understanding of injection molding process and equipment
