Kumon Math and Reading Center of Hillsboro - Orenco Station is seeking part-time Center Assistant for Math & Reading.
This is an excellent opportunity for high school juniors and seniors, college students, retired educators, and people who are seeking a second part-time job.
**This is a great experience for someone who is either studying or planning to study a math related or education-related major (physics, statistics, engineering, math education, etc.) Former Kumon students encouraged to apply!!!
Qualifications
- Good instructional skills, and an ability to communicate.
- Ability to convey ideas and concepts in a simple and clear manner to children.
- Responsible, reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
- Strong math and reading skills (capable of math up to calculus would be preferred, but not mandatory).
- Demonstrate initiative, be flexible and patient, and have the ability to multi-task.
- A background check will be required.
- You will be required to complete a math exam to determine if you understand the appropriate level of math skills required. Expect algebra level questions. Failing this exam does not mean an instant denial, however it is not preferred. At the end of the day, we just want you to be as prepared as can be!
General Responsibilities
- Guiding children with class work.
- Preparing materials for class work and homework.
- Calling student's parents over the phone.
- Any other tasks may be required for the operation of the center like inventory, etc.
Work Hours (twice a week for approximately 7-10 hours):
- Must be available at least 2 days. Choose between Monday & Thursday, or Tuesday & Friday at minimum. All 4 class days are an option. We are willing to be flexible with your schedule during the school year (for example if you are a high school student and class doesn't get out until a certain time during the week):

- Monday (3:00 PM-7:00 PM)
- Tuesday (3:00 PM-7:00 PM)
- Thursday (3:00 PM-7:00 PM)
- Friday (3:00 PM-7:00 PM)
