What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tutor/Assistant position at Kumon of Durham - Research Triangle Park?
Kumon is an excellent after-school math and reading program originally founded in Japan in 1958. The basis for the Kumon method is mastery of Math and Reading through repetition.
We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to work at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Durham Research Triangle Park.
Candidate must:
- enjoy working with children from ages 3 and above
- have strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication skills and be very patient
- be enthusiastic and able to motivate young students
- ensure proper study habits and work skills are being developed and train the students in center routine
- individualize strategies for student development based on student goals and communication with Instructor
- work closely with Instructor to develop and understand lesson plan and goals for each student in order to properly administer instruction individually
- have strong organizational and communication skills
- be responsible for grading student classwork, homework, and corrections using Kumon Answer book and Kumon Method
- ensure student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%
- assess oral reading ability with reading students and providing necessary feedback
- provide assistance/guidance to students, as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards and center procedures
- provide Instructor with written or verbal feedback, as needed, based on student observations and/or student performance on worksheets
This position is for two to four days per week on Mondays and Thursdays 3:00pm-7:00pm, Wednesdays 3:00pm - 6:00pm and Sundays 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Maximum hours available would be no more than 18 hours a week. Compensation will be $8.00 based on qualifications, performance, experience and position of interest.
