Job Description

Kunai is a fast-growing digital consultancy focused on banking, payments, and fintech powered by a global network that attracts the best and brightest people from all backgrounds and cultures, driven by innovation and experimentation, spread across almost every single continent. Over the past decade, we've shipped over 150 products for clients that include Visa, American Express, Capital One, WEX, Wells Fargo, Ernst & Young, and TOMS Shoes. Our founders built a previous agency (Monsoon) that was acquired by Capital One in 2015.

We're looking for an experienced and collaborative Technical Program Manager to help lead our client's Enterprise Data Storage and Consumption strategy. In this role, you'll develop and deliver impactful, data-driven projects that align with our client's business priorities. If you're a tech-savvy leader with a solid background in cloud-based, data-intensive solutions, this could be the perfect fit for you!

What You'll Do :

  • Strategize and Execute : You'll take charge of planning, executing, and delivering technical programs focused on data storage and consumption, ensuring these initiatives align with the client's business goals. Your vision will help shape the roadmap for impactful data projects.
  • Collaborate Across Teams : Work with cross-functional client teams (product, engineering, design, and data science) to bridge gaps, remove technical blockers, and ensure alignment. You'll propose effective solutions to complex challenges and drive consensus across teams.
  • Lead Program Delivery : Take ownership of the delivery roadmap across multiple teams. As a Senior Manager, this may mean overseeing 2–3 teams; at the Director level, this could involve working with 3–5. Your goal is to ensure alignment and clear progress on the client's priorities.
  • Communicate Clearly : Deliver concise updates to the client's leadership, helping them understand how technical advancements support strategic priorities. You'll make the value of each program clear and tangible.

What You Bring :

  • 6-8 plus years in Data-Intensive Solution Design with expertise in distributed computing
  • 4 plus years in Distributed Systems & Cloud Architecture (preferably using AWS), building highly available services in regulated environments
  • Experience in Scalable Mobile Products and Platforms a plus
  • Substantial experience in Agile Delivery and Large-Scale Program Leadership–Proven experience delivering complex, high-impact programs, where you've defined a technical vision, engaged cross-functional teams, secured commitments, and unblocked teams for success
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards in technology solutions
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Technical Field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Ideal Fit :

  • Technical Problem-Solver : You bring a strong technical foundation, ideally in data engineering or software development, with experience in building highly scalable platforms. You're proactive in managing risks and driving solutions.
  • Strong Influencer and Decision-Maker : Skilled at making complex concepts accessible and driving sound decisions across multiple teams.
  • High Emotional Intelligence and Empathy : You're a great listener, with a deep sense of empathy for both your team and stakeholders.
  • Work Location :

  • This position is hybrid, with onsite work three days a week in either Northern Virginia or Boston.
  • At Kunai, we have built deep relationships with our clients. Our bar is high, and our mission is to always exceed our client's expectations. If you are fanatical about customer success and driven to work on and solve tough technical challenges, we would love to chat with you!
