Responsibilities:
- Interpret laboratory results that are outside of the technical ability of the Lab Analysts
- Review all process and final product test results to check for validity and possible quality-related
- Assist QC manager in classification for final product and compounding
- Maintain all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring that they are documented and up to date.
- Maintain all Lab Analyst training and competency records, ensuring that they are documented and up to date.
- Conduct maintenance and improvement activities regarding test procedures, calibration procedures, and analytical
- Troubleshoot reliability issues of laboratory equipment and develop practical solutions.
- Assist QC manager with special projects, as
- Responsible for troubleshooting and investigating quality issues.
- Evaluates reported results for consistency with plant process conditions.
- Undertake special projects to support QC customers.
- Provide the operation with all the necessary QC support.
- Trains laboratory personnel in new instruments and procedures as needed.
- Assure all analyzers are maintained in good operating condition.
- Assist QC manager with external agency audits and certification compliance.
- Develop, implement & follow calibration plan for all analyzers.
- Contact outside vendors for service as needed.
- Support New Instrument Implementation, validation, and training.
- Conduct internal audits on the proper execution of test methods.
- Monitor and follow up on QC issues for lab on daily basis.
- Implement effective preventive maintenance program.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure lab data is always accurate, consistent, and repeatable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of B.S. in Chemistry or related field with 7 years relevant experience.
- Required 5 or more years QC lab experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Experience required with GC, ICP, GC-MS, Antek, KF, IR, UV, Extruder, DSC, etc.
- Experience required in statistical process control and statistical quality
- Extended knowledge of computers and software applications.
- Very strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize work.
- Strong laboratory skills required including both scientific practices and housekeeping.
