Job Summary
Kurt Manufacturing is looking to add an MRO Buyer to our team. This position will work under the direction of our Supply Chain Manager and will be responsible for purchase order placement, vendor management, and overall process improvement. The MRO Buyer will purchase the materials and services required to maintain our equipment, facilities, and operations. This role will also compile the information and records needed to prepare purchase orders for the procurement of MRO-related products (see sample list below).
Our ideal candidate will be highly organized, have strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. In addition, our ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of purchasing experience with 2 of those years in a manufacturing environment.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated starting pay rate for this position is $24.78 to $31.40. The exact salary may be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.

Essential Functions
Maintenance, Repair, & Operation purchasing and replenishment
Assist accounts payable with related questions about pricing, PO’s etc.
Receive and distribute orders and compare receipts to items listed on the purchase order
Communicate parts availability to respective/appropriate department
Check delivery of critical parts
Delinquent order follow-up
Supplier sourcing
Conduct spending analysis and develop cost savings opportunities
Develop and implement MRO standardization
Generate back-up vendors for critical parts
Generate material/parts spend reports (Kurt uses Epicor / Manage2000)
Create sales orders and work orders for inter-company work
Verifies specifications of purchase requests
Returns rejected materials to suppliers and negotiates credit adjustments
Examples of MRO items:
Cleaning supplies, such as mops, brooms, garbage bags
Personal protective equipment (PPE) – (gloves, safety goggles, ear plugs)
Tools and materials for maintenance and repair (filters, oils, etc.)
Production equipment (such as cutting tools, drill bits, end mills, machining tool inserts)
Power tools, such as saws, drills, sanders
Office supplies (Corporate and Machining)

Required
Minimum 5 years’ purchasing experience, with 2 of those years in manufacturing
Previous experience with ERP software (Kurt uses Epicor/Manage2000)
Excellent organizational and time management skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in research and part identity
Knowledge of critical equipment and supplies
HS Diploma or equivalent GED
Preferred
Experience in machine shop manufacturing/purchasing environment
