Job Summary

In the journeyman electrician role, you will perform electrical work and inspection on wiring, fixtures, outlets, and other electrical components including on industrial machinery and equipment. You will replace and repair electrical equipment and devices as required. You must maintain a deep understanding of building code regulations to check and ensure compliance with the highest standards of building design and construction. Success in this role will be demonstrated by employing effective process controls to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficient installation and maintenance of electrical systems.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated starting pay range for the journeyman electrician is $24.78 to $33.00. Candidates with a master electrician license would be eligible for a higher starting rate. Compensation will be based on a number of factors such as experience, knowledge, licensure, etc.

Essential Functions

  • Installs new electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, and outlets, as well as repairing and replacing faulty components
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Accurately interprets and follows electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to complete installations correctly
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues by testing circuits, locating faults, and analyzing system malfunctions
  • Adheres to all local and national electrical codes and safety standards during installations and repairs
  • Performs routine inspections of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and identifies potential problems
  • Ensures all electrical work meets quality standards and is completed according to specifications
  • Follows safety protocols, wearing appropriate protective gear, and maintaining a safe work environment

    Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Successful completion of a recognized electrician 4-year apprenticeship program
  • Holds a valid journeyman electrician license in this jurisdiction (Fridley, MN)
  • Has comprehensive understanding of electrical theory, wiring methods, and electrical systems
  • Good understanding of both AC & DC systems & work with 480V systems
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools related to electrical work
  • Capability to perform tasks requiring lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
  • At least 4 years of related experience
  • Preferred

  • Experience in a machine shop manufacturing environment
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (how to access and how to read)
  • Master electrician license in this jurisdiction (Fridley, MN)
