Responsibilities
- Interviews and examines patients, reviews past medical history, requests and/or performs diagnostic tests, and provides definitive management and full-spectrum family ambulatory practice in all medical categories.
- Conducts outpatient clinics, modifies treatment plans as necessary, and instructs and counsels patients and family members accordingly.
- Refers patients to appropriate contracted medical facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures.
- Achieves preparation of accurate medical records for all patients seen, ensuring the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care.
- Provides clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under their care to physicians, hospitals, and other individuals and facilities.
- Works closely with allied professionals to advise and coordinate their services at other professionals and the management applications medical, psychological, and social problems.
- Provides prenatal care to expected patients in the first and second trimester.
- Divides pediatric care from newborn to adulthood and is familiar with growth, development, disease states, and unique status of pediatric patients.
- Is active in pre-visit planning of the clinic, coordination of care, and participates in clinic improvement activities.
- Anticipates evaluating and treating approximately 12 to 20 patients during an eight-hour workday.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures normally performed by family practice nurse practitioners, such as laceration repair and excision of skin lesions.
