About the role
The Associate General Counsel, Distribution Compliance is responsible for the development of the compliance program framework to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to Kuvare’s distribution channels and products, as well as other policies applicable to our associates, officers, directors, vendors, and agents of the company as appropriate. This position will also provide legal guidance on contracts with distribution partners and regulatory matters, as well as other assigned matters.
What you'll do
- Direct product and distribution compliance activities associated with federal and state insurance and labor regulations.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes related to the Company’s products and distribution channels and make recommendations for compliance as necessary.
- Develop, implement and monitor compliance with Company’s suitability policies and procedures
- Participate in departmental and interdepartmental task groups and committees to provide product and distribution compliance expertise and direction to ensure all practices and procedures are in compliance.
- Assist product team in developing policy and endorsement language to support new products and enhancements to existing offerings
- Manage the maintenance and distribution of policies and procedures manuals related to the distribution channel. Coordinate ongoing distribution training regarding compliance with company and industry rules and regulations and ensure accurate training records are maintained (AML, Best Interest, Suitability).
- Develop distribution channel monitoring criteria and follow-up procedures and document compliance with company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements as necessary.
- Responsible for legal review of contracts with distributors, agents, IMOs, and other vendors associated with the distribution channel.
- Oversight of Company marketing materials for compliance with applicable regulations

Qualifications
- 5-8 years of progressive compliance experience within the life insurance and annuity industry
- JD and licensure in state of residence
- Must possess strong analytical skills and problem solving
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects simultaneously
- Able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities; able to communicate at all levels in a clear, focused, and understandable manner. Influences others effectively and respectfully, and builds consensus and collaboration
