Location: Kansas City, MO
Pay: $16.00-$17.00 per hour
Job Summary
This position plays a crucial role in overseeing meal preparation and ensuring residents and staff members receive their daily nutritional needs in the dining room. Approximately 50% of this role involves administrative tasks, including maintaining compliance with health department and DESE regulations, record-keeping, and coordinating meal service operations.
We are seeking someone who is comfortable handling administrative responsibilities alongside direct meal service support. While this is not a supervisory position, the role will be supervised by the Assistant Director of Operations.
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM.
Preferred Experience: Familiarity with health department and DESE regulations.
Major Duties
• Maintains the daily nutritional and special dietary needs of the children in residence and at school
• Supervises and assist in the preparation of food as required for baking, cooking, serving, and cleaning
• Coordinates food for special events and interacts with staff and guest
• Checks to make certain that instructions contained in menus and recipes are carefully executed
• Supervises and assists in the cleaning of all work areas after each meal, and coordinates the special cleaning assignments as needed
• Assures that leftovers are properly cooled, stored and held for additional usages to maximize our effective use of resources and controlling cost
• Coordinates the ordering of the government commodities deliveries to again maximize our available resources
• Maintains the special diet list to assure the proper nutrition of our children
• Maintains the allergy list of our children so we are avoiding possible dangers to their health
• Completes all Joint Commission and training requirements
• Teaches and assists other staff in their development of cooking and cleaning skills
• Serves as acting director in the absence of the director. Completes necessary Credible documents and weekly and monthly reports
• Makes recommendation to the director for changes in the food program from menuing to labor scheduling for the most effective use of resources
• Assist in development of new menu items and recipes
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Licensure/Certification: ServSafe Certification
Qualifications:
• Extraordinary appreciation for cleanliness, personal hygiene, and sanitary conditions.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Possess a current, valid driver’s license and meets the KVC requirements for insurance.
Experience: Experience performing cleaning duties
